Prime accused of Newai firing incident nabbed from Bihar

Bhilai, Jul 26: After about twenty days, the district police succeeded in apprehending the prime accused of the firing incident which occurred in Newai Police Station area. The accused had openly challenged the cops by using illegal fire arms twice within five days in Tanki Maroda area of Newai. Police teams searched him in various states and finally he was nabbed from Bihar. Police have seized the illegal fire arms and two vehicles from his possession. SP Prashant Agrawal was directly monitoring the entire investigation and search operation. Police have apprehended the accomplices of the accused and have demolished his local criminal network.
Addressing media persons here at Police Control Room, SP Prashant Agrawal informed that three unidentified ruffians had opened fire on Brijesh Rai alias Pinky Rai in Tanki Maroda area on July 05 midnight. Brijesh had escaped unhurt and on his complaint, an FIR was lodged under section 307 of IPC and section 25, 27 of Arms Act. Taking the matter into serious cognizance, a special team led by CSP Bhilai Nagar including four Inspectors and 25 officers / personnel was constituted. Footages of more than 50 CCTV cameras were analyzed. As the accused had used a red coloured Maruti 800 car, police started tracing the vehicle at toll booths, ITMS cameras, etc and information of M-800 car owners was collected. Motor mechanics and spare parts dealers were also questioned about such car. Listed criminals, convicted criminals were summoned to the police station and strictly interrogated. Those involved in cases of illegal country-made pistols, pistols, accused and their associates collected and examined. Necessary legal action was also taken against many of the habitual and listed offenders.
With sustained efforts, three unknown accused were identified as Mukul Sona alias Sonu of Newai area and two of his associates Mukesh Singh alias Panchar resident of Allahabad, Nagendra Kumar resident of Nalanda Bihar. After identification, immediate raids were conducted at their respective locations but all the three accused were absconding from their hideouts. Police intensified its efforts to arrest them. The accused were earlier challaned in a kidnapping case. So, their case partner Darano was also interrogated. In the meanwhile, on July 10 at around 19:00 hrs in the Risali area, the three accused again fired bullets in the air and fled after giving another challenge to the police. After the second incident, Durg Police conducted continuous raids at about 40 places of Durg Bhilai city, Titlagarh, Orissa, Dhamtari, Kurud, Keshkal, Kanker, Nagpur, Raipur, Nandini Ahiwara, etc and searched the accused at every possible location. On the other hand, the accused tried to establish their terror and dominance in the area through social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram. Through an Instagram post, the accused threatened to kill the applicant and made an attempt to mislead the technical tracing and investigation. But the Cyber Cell foiled their by cracking. The technical analysis was being done continuously by the Cyber Cell and on the basis of the outputs; all the possible places were raided. Police launched a simultaneous campaign against the people who were providing financial help and shelter to the accused. All such people were identified and legal action was taken against them. Police managed to demolish the local network of the accused. In the meanwhile, Sanjay Joshi, who gave shelter to the accused, was arrested with a cache of liquor from his house in Potiya, Nandini. Amit Jose, who was another accomplice of the accused, was detained in jail under section 399 IPC and 25 Arms Act. Taking stern action against other accomplices, police arrested Vishwajeet and Lucky George. Action was taken under sections 294, 506, 212, 34 of IPC against Prakhar Chandrakar and a juvenile, who operated the social media accounts of the accused. Other associates including Suraj Pal a resident of Newai, Ashok Jangde a resident of village Hanoda Padmanabhpur, Mangal Singh a resident of Station Maroda, Pulkit Chandrakar a resident of Maroda sector, Gopendra Bagh a resident of Pension Bada, Raipur were sent to jail after taking prohibitory action.
Due to intensive operations of the police, the accused escaped from the state as Durg Bhilai area was no safer for them. But continued its technical analysis and on the basis of technical inputs, police teams moved to Delhi / Ludhiana area in North India to search the accused. But the accused remained updated with police activity by going through the news published in local media. They watched the Crime Patrol programme on Youtube and taking lesson from it, they frequently changed their locations to avoid being traced. In this sequel, police received information that accused Mukul Sona and Nagendra Kumar have left from Chandoli in Uttar Pradesh to take shelter at Nagendra’s residence in Prabalpur district in Nalanda, Bihar. On confirmation of technical analysis, SP Prashant Agrawal contacted SP Hari Prasad of Nalanda and requested for help. He immediately provided necessary facilities and resources after which a joint team of Durg Police and Nalanda Police raided the residence of accused Nagendra and managed to arrest the prime accused Mukul Sona. However, Nagendra had managed to escape from the spot. Police are trying to search Nagendra. On the basis of Mukul Sona’s statement, two nos mobile phones, Wi-Fi router, country-made pistol, cartridges, Maruti 800 car, motor cycle Pulsar 200, have been seized. The accused Mukul Sona was arrested and produced before the Court. Raipur Police made appreciable contribution in searching the accused.
Police have taken action against the prime accused Mukul Sona and his accomplices Suraj Pal, Ashok Jangde, Mangal Singh, Prakhar Chandrankar, Pulkit Chandrakar, Gopendra Bagh, Sanjay Joshi, Amit Josh and Lucky George.
