Pre-monsoon nullah cleaning in full swing

The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has stepped up preparations to tackle flood-like situation occurring due to water-logging as well as flooding of the pollutants from the nullahs into the creek during rainy season.
The RMC is undertaking cleanliness of two major nullahs in Ring Road-Gokul Nagar nullah and Chingri nullah-since last week under a pre-monsoon special cleanliness drive. Heaps of wastes are being removed from both the major nullahs. According to information available wastes were removed with the use of pokland machine in 20 trips from Gokul Nagar nullah on Friday.
RMC officials said that apart from nullahs, all major and small drains in the city were being cleaned on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Shiv Anant Tayal. Nullah from Zone-4 area of RMC joins Gokul Nagar nullah via Ramkrishna Hospital, Kamal Vihar and Boria Road from Dharamnagar end. One sanitation team of RMC carried out cleanliness of stretch of nullah between Ramkrishna Hospital and Dharamnagar whereas another team carried out cleanliness in nullah at Gokul Nagar.
Meanwhile RMC Zone-5 staff are carrying out cleanliness of Chingri nullah since last week. Waste water from drains passing through Professor Colony Inter-State Bus Stand and Sunder Nagar flows into this nullah. In addition to this the water in two major nullahs from Lakhe Nagar Chowk to Ring Road Chowk also flows into Chingri nullah. Cleanliness of all other nullahs and drains in the city is also underway. Municipal Commissioner Tayal himself is monitoring cleanliness work.
