Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana : More than 7500 women of remote areas provided domestic LPG connection within one year

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, gas connections and cylinders are being provided in remote areas at an accelerated pace. Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country, where distributors in 50 remote areas have been appointed and 7525 women of remote areas have been provided LPG connection. Women of remote areas in state are easily availing the LPG connection and refill facility. It is noteworthy that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 98 remote area distributors are supposed to be appointed in two phases for ensuring supply of gas cylinders. In the first phase, distributors have begun to work in 50 places of 19 districts. In the second phase, construction of godowns in 48 places is doing on at an accelerated pace.

Officials of Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department informed today that in the first phase of Remote Area Distributor Scheme that commenced in fiscal year 2016-17, primary cooperative credit societies were appointed as dealers, and they were trained by various oil companies. Under the scheme, one remote area distributor has been appointed in Bastar district, three in Bijapur, two in South Bastar (Dantewada), four in North Bastar (Kanker), two in Kondagaon district, two in Narayanpur district and one in Sukma district, who have provided domestic LPG connection to 3054 women. Likewise, three remote area distributors have been appointed in Rajnandgaon district, three in Kabeerdham district, three in Mahasamund district, two in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, and one remote area distributor has been appointed in Gariaband district, who have provided domestic LPG connection to 2209 women. Similarly, three remote area distributors have been appointed in Bilaspur district and six remote area distributors are functioning in Raigarh district, and 512 LPG connections have been distributed by them, while 1782 women have been provided LPG connection by three remote area distributors appointed in Sarguja district, five in Balrampur-Ramanujganj, three in Surajpur district, two in Jashpur district, and one in Koriya district.
