Political parties show strength; take out nomination rallies

Bhilai, Dec 03: On the last day of filing nomination for civic body polls, the political parties took out rallies for filing nominations of their candidates. Civic body polls are to be held in Bhilai Municipal Corporation, Risali Municipal Corporation, Bhilai Charoda Municipal Corporation and Jamul Municipal Council and Ward Number 5 of Utai Nagar Panchayat.
There was huge rush at the nomination centres on the Friday as both the leading political parties declared the list of candidates on Wednesday and Thursday. Senior leaders of the parties and the election in-charges accompanied the candidates in the rallies.
The civic body polls in the district are being considered as very high profile as it is the home district of Chief Minister and two cabinet ministers. More than 435 candidates have filed nominations for 70 wards of Bhilai Municipal Corporation. 214 candidates have filed nominations for 40 wards of Risali Municipal Corporation.
92 candidates have filed nominations for 20 wards of Jamul Municipal Council while five candidates have filed nominations for bypolls in Ward 05 of Utai Nagar Panchayat. Exact figure of Bhilai Charoda Municipal Council was not released till filing of this report.
Here in Bhilai Municipal Corporation, more than 435 applications have been received for 70 wards. On the last day of filing nominations, Cabinet Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, MLA Arun Vora, MLA Devendra Yadav, Congress leaders Laxman Chandrakar, Dharmendra Yadav, DCC President Mukesh Chandrakar and other senior leaders led the candidates in the rally. They filed the nominations at the office of Returning Officer established in the premises of Bhilai Municipal Corporation.
Bharatiya Janata Party took out rallies in Bhilai Charoda Municipal Corporation and Jamul Municipal Council. At Bhilai – Charoda, Senior BJP leaders Brijmohan Agrawal, Shiv Ratan Sharma, MP Vijay Baghel and others led the candidates in the rally. They tried to display their strength as well as unity through this procession.
At Jamul, election in-charge Labhchand Bafna, Neelu Sharma, Surendra Patni and former MLA Sanwla Ram Dehre led the candidates. Rallies were taken out in Risali also. With this, filing of nominations has concluded on Friday.
Scrutiny will be held on December 4 and the candidates will be able to withdraw their names till December 06 after which final list of candidates will be published. Polling will be held on December 20 and counting of votes will be held on December 23.
