Police takes action against noisy and modified bikes

Bhilai, Oct 14: Durg Police conducted a special drive against the riders involved in over speeding during the festive season. The bikes retrofitted with noisy silencers and other modifications were also impounded. According to information, Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) Badri Narayan Meena had received complaints from the general public about the speed bikers which also make loud noise. Taking the complaint into cognizance, SSP directed the traffic police to take action against such violators.
Joint teams of traffic police and forces of various police stations conducted the drive under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (City) and rounded up the modified bikes / silencers, stunt bikers, high speed bikers, and vehicles moving with registration plate.
In the past, Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) had directed the police officers of the traffic and police stations to take strict action against such drivers who cause road accidents and nuisance to common citizens. In compliance with his orders, Bhilai Traffic Zone I/c Bharti Markam, SHO Bhilai Nagar ML Shukla and SHO Bhilai Bhatti Brijesh Kushwaha constituted teams under this special campaign for their respective zone areas and took action against 19 riders. Their vehicles have been confiscated, out of which 10 nos Royal Enfield Bullet bikes with modified silencers have been seized. Action was taken against them under the provisions mentioned in MV Act. As most of the violators were young men, their parents were called in and police counselled the youth in presence of their parents.
Traffic police appealed to all the citizens for not indulging in riding / driving in a drunken state. Parents have been requested for not allowing their children to modify their vehicles and drive at high speed. In case of such violations, traffic police will seize such vehicles. Action is being taken against the violators under the provisions of new Motor Vehicle Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) has appealed to the citizens to send information against such traffic violators to police.
