Police takes action against modified bikes

Bhilai, Mar 17: Durg Traffic Police conducted a special drive against the bikes fitted with modified silencers. These vehicles create noise pollution and their sound is irritating for other commuters. At the same time, police penalised the bikers who were found moving at high speed. Under the directions of SP Prashant Thakur and Supervision of DSP (Traffic) Gurjeet Singh, the drive was conducted in the urban area of the district.
Twelve vehicles were impounded during this drive and chhalans were produced before the court. In most of the cases, the riders were unable to produce the driving license and other documents of the vehicles during checking drive. DSP Gurjeet Singh informed that they produced six chhalans before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Yashoda Naag. As per the provisions of the new Motor Vehicle Act, fine of Rs 15000 was imposed on one rider; the second one was fined of Rs 12000 while four others were asked to pay Rs 10000 each.
