Police rescues two girls including a juvenile; pimp arrested
Bhilai, Sep 09: Police have arrested a pimp on charges of pushing two girls including a juvenile into prostitution. Police have rescued both the girls who are from Lucknow and Delhi. The accused used WhatsApp to run sex racket. He had lured the girls to come to Bhilai – Durg on the promise of a job but later he tried to push them into immoral activities. Police have seized two mobile phones from the possession of the accused. The WhatsApp chats have revealed information about many customers also.
Addressing media persons here at Supela on Friday, ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruv informed that on the intervening night of September 09, the victim contacted Vaishali Nagar SHO Inspector Virendra Srivastava on mobile phone. The victim complained that one Arun Kumar Singh alias Aman had lured her to come to Bhilai from Lucknow for a job. Later he tried to push her into prostitution.
Taking the matter into serious cognizance, Superintendent of Police Dr Abhishek Pallav, Additional Superintendent of Police (city) Sanjay Dhruv and City Superintendent of Police Nassar Siddiqui immediately sent a team led by SDOP Devansh Rathore with the female officer to rescue the victim. After establishing contact with the victim, the team reached Hotel Landmark in Supela and rescued the victim. On the basis of the information provided by her, a juvenile girl of Delhi was also rescued. On the basis of her Aadhar card, it was confirmed that she was a juvenile.
Both the victims informed that the accused Arun Kumar Singh alias Aman was harassing them and pressuring them to get involved in immoral activities. One of the victims managed to collect the contact number of Vaishali Nagar Police Station and informed the police through voice call and voice message.
Police lodged a complaint under Section-4, 5 Immoral Traffic Prevention Act 1956, 509 (b) 370 of IPC, Section 17 (POCSO Act) and Section 67 of IT Act. As the accused was absconding, a team led by Inspector Durgesh Sharma (SHO, Supela) searched the addresses of the accused. The network of informers was also activated. On the basis of the mobile numbers collected from the victim, the Cyber Cell acquired information about the mobile number, address etc of the accused Arun Kumar Singh. His close relatives and friends were quizzed and finally the accused was arrested from Utai Bazar Chowk. After intensive interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. On searching the mobile of the accused, obscene photos of many women and girls from different states were found. All the information about the mobile of the accused is being examined by the Cyber Cell.
With its prompt action, Police rescued the girls within a few hours of receiving the complaint. Police are investigating the involvement of the hotel operator and other people involved in this racket.
