Police fines commuters for mask violation; distributes free masks

Bhilai, Apr 18: Under the directions of Superintendent of Police (Durg) Prashant Thakur, strict action and awareness campaign is being continuously carried out in the district for strict compliance of lockdown instructions and measures for prevention of Covid-19 infection. Additional Superintendent of Police (Durg City) Sanjay Kumar Dhruw and Additional Superintendent of Police (Durg Rural) Praggya Meshram are continuously monitoring and supervising this drive. Blockades have been laid across the district and Police Teams have been deployed at the check posts at these places for conducting intensive checking of commuters. They are also motivating people to follow the lockdown. Flag march is also being conducted in different areas.
Another important drive is the checking of commuters for face masks. Police are taking action against the people who are found moving without masks. As per the directions of SP Prashant Thakur, free face masks are also being provided to the violators. During the lockdown period, action has been taken against about 700 people and fine of approximately Rs 3.5 lakh has been recovered from them.
Under the directions of ASP (Rural) Praggya Meshram and SDOP (Patan) Akash Rao Girepunje, the team of Utai Police Station led by Inspector Navi Monica Pandey is also taking action against the violators. Police are counselling the people who are found moving without masks. Their hands are being sanitized and free masks are being distributed among them.
