Police checks hotels, lodges, dhabas to curb criminal activities

Bhilai, Sep 13: With aim to curb criminals and criminal activities, Durg Police conducted intensive checking of hotels, dhabas, lodges, bars, dharmashals, bus stands, etc on Sunday evening. On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) Badri Narayan Meena, special teams led by SHOs of ten police stations carried out the drive.
Action was taken against the suspicious persons found during the checking. The police officers interrogated the suspects and searched them. Directions were also given to Dhaba operators in this regard. Some persons and couples were found during the checks. The suspects as well as the owners of the hotels / lodges where they were found have been summoned at Police Control Room.
Suspects were found in Hotel Sai and Hotel City Light in Chhawani; Kunal Lodge, Eagle Inn, Rajputana Hotel, City Tower Inn, Hotel Jayshree, Hotel Kunal II, Hotel Krish II, Hotel Land Mark 4 and Hotel Land Mark 3 of Supela area; and Hotel Samrat of Mohan Nagar area.
It needs to be mentioned here that Durg Police is conducting various campaigns on instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) Badri Narayan Meena to curb the criminal activities. Daily checking campaign is being conducted in the entire district to ensure that the commuters obey the traffic rules. This drive is being jointly conducted by teams of various police stations along with the personnel of traffic police.
Intensive checking campaign was conducted at five main places of Bhilai Nagar subdivision during which action was taken against bike riders involved in over-speeding, drunk drivers, bikes with two-pillion riders, modified silencer etc.
Another significant initiative is the visual patrolling which has been started to make the police presence felt among masses. Under the visual patrolling initiative, police teams are conducting on-foot patrolling and are staying at the important traffic junctions and public places for some time.
They are also interacting with the common people to take stock of the ground situation. It is hoped that this initiative would develop confidence of masses on police department and will also strengthen the network of informers. The intensive checking campaign was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar Dhruv. He inspected all the points and monitored the entire operation.
