PM Modi lauds Ch’garh Govt’s efforts to save crops from the effects of climate change

Raipur, Sep 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new campus of National Institute of Biotech Stress Management in Raipur through video conference. On this occasion, he appreciated Chhattisgarh Government’s efforts to make farming more profitable and to save crops from the effects of climate change.
In his address to the inaugural programme, Prime Minister especially mentioned the gauthans built under Suraaji Gaon Yojana and cowdung procurement under Godhan Nyay Yojana. He praised Chhatttisgarh Government for utilizing the cowdung procured in the gauthans for production of organic manure and now for generating electricity.
Prime Minister Modi further said that at present, we need to help the farmers to go beyond the crop-based profits and expand their horizons through value addition. He emphasized on promoting the production of crops based on local climatic conditions. He added that the Millet Mission launched by Chhattisgarh Government to promote millets production in the state was the need of the hour. On the occasion, Prime Minister dedicated to the nation the 35 special varieties of crops.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the inauguration programme of the new campus of National Institute of Biotech Stress Management through video conferencing from his residence office. While congratulating everyone including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhupesh Baghel said that Chhattisgarh will have an active and extensive participation in the awareness campaign launched by Government of India for promotion of climate tolerance techniques and methods. On this occasion, Chief Minister mentioned in detail the challenges of climate change. He said that many steps have been taken to minimize the effects of climate change in Chhattisgarh. Efforts are being made to improve the rural economy by conserving the natural resources and by ensuring better utilization of local resources through Narva, Garwa, Ghurva, Bari. Many Initiatives have been taken under Godhan Nyay Yojana and Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to make agriculture a profitable occupation. Dung procured under Godhan Nyay Yojana is being utilized for production of organic manure in Gauthans. And now taking a step ahead, we are all set to commence the production of electricity from cow dung from October 2nd this year. Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Pradeep Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Sahoo, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh and other officers were present at Chief Minister’s residence office.
