PM Modi assures people of J&K of Eid celebrations without any difficulties

Prime Minister Modi said, people of Jammu & Kashmir will be able to celebrate Eid without any difficulties on 12th August. He assured that government is providing all possible help to those from J&K who live elsewhere and want to return home to celebrate the festival.

Addressing the nation last evening, the Prime Minister said, a new era has begun for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with the revocation of Article 370.

The Prime Minister said, decades of dynastic politics in Jammu and Kashmir deprived the youth from the opportunity to lead from the front. Mr Modi said, in the new system, it will be the priority of the central government that the employees of the state, the Jammu and Kashmir police, get equal facilities at par with the employees of the other Union Territories and the police. The Prime Minister said, the process of filling the vacant posts of centre and state in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will be started soon which will provide employment opportunities to the local youth.

Mr. Modi also said, his government respects objections of those who are opposed to the decision and was working to address them. He, however, asked them to put national interests supreme and help government in giving Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh a new direction.

The Prime Minister remembered several bravehearts from Jammu and Kashmir who sacrificed their lives for the region, saying they all wanted peace and prosperity in the Valley and we have to realise their dreams.

Mr. Modi spoke about Maulvi Ghulam Din, who had informed the Indian forces about Pakistani infiltrators during the 1965 war between the two countries; and Rifleman Aurangzeb who was abducted and killed by terrorists in Kashmir last year.
Mr. Modi also spoke about Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, who hails from Ladakh and was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second highest gallantry award, for his successful operation in the 1999 Kargil war.

Rukhsana Kausar from Rajouri district, who took on armed terrorists in 2009 and managed to kill one of them, also found a mention in Modi’s speech. She was felicitated with Kirti Chakra for her bravery.

Mr Modi said, after the formation of the Union Territory, the development of the people of Ladakh, is the special responsibility of the Central government. He said, it is time that people of Ladakh benefit from the region’s rich biodiversity, while its medicinal plants and herbs get global recognition.

The Prime Minister said, specialties from Jammu and Kashmir such as ‘kahwa’, apples and saffron should be popularised and urged exporters to take these unique products to different parts of the world.

Prime Minister Modi said, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh have the potential to become the biggest tourist destination of the world. He said, his government will work sincerely for a “naya Jammu Kashmir and naya Ladakh”.

People of Jammu and Kashmir have hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inspiring address to the nation last evening, on his government’s action on Jammu and Kashmir.

They are of the opinion that the Prime Minister’s speech has clearly reflected his commitment and assurance to the people of the State for their all-round development.
