Bhilai, Nov 19: On Thursday, the State Swachhata Awards were given away by the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister TS Singhdeo. Patan block was the leader in block level awards. It received awards to the tune of over Rs 50 lakhs. This virtual event was organised on the occasion of World Toilet Day. Public representatives from the District Panchayat were present. District Panchayat President Shalini Rivendra Yadav and Vice President Ashok Sahu and other public representatives congratulated the concerned Panchayats and their office bearers. On the occasion, Singhdeo said that excellent work has been done on ODF stability in panchayats. Panchayats deserve to be appreciated for this. If such work continues further, this will be a significant step towards rural development and better health. Gram Panchayat Risama received the Gram Panchayat ODF Sustainability Award worth Rs 20 lakhs. Gram Panchayat Patora received the Outstanding Segregation Shed Award of Rs One Lakh. Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure congratulated the award winning Panchayats and said that significant work has been done in the Durg district in the field of Swachhata. The success of this campaign was visible in the prize distribution function of State Swachhata Awards 2020.
District Panchayat President Shalini Yadav said that the Panchayats did excellent work, which was appreciated by the state. Vice President Ashok Sahu said that it was a big day for panchayats. Panchayats of Durg District have been honored at Raipur and Delhi as well. District Panchayat CEO Sachchidanand Alok said that it was possible due to the active participation of public representatives and government officials in rural areas. Award was given to PP Tamarkar & Associates for excellent drawing (Layout) of community toilets, Rs 51000 to Tarrighat for menstrual hygiene management, Rs 51000 to Laxmi Self Help Group of village Purai for excellent sanitation.
