Bhilai, Sep 26: In a significant operation, Durg Police has arrested more than 75 ruffians involved in operations of online betting, Mahadev Book, etc in the last six days. Rs 73009 cash, mobile phones, calculators, laptops and betting records were recovered from the possession of the accused. This operation is being jointly conducted by Anti Crime and Cyber Unit (ACCU) and teams of Bhilai Nagar, Newai, Supela, Vaishali Nagar, Chhwani, Jamul, Old Bhilai, Khursipar, Durg, Mohan Nagar, Pulgaon and Utai Police Stations.
SP Dr Abhishek Pallava informed that they have taken effective action to curb the illegal activities of online cricket betting, online betting and satta-patti in the district. Police are maintaining vigil on the activities of suspects and the network of informers has been activated. During September 20 to 26, Police arrested 75 persons involved in this illegal activity. 04 have been arrested in Bhilai Nagar, 07 in Newai, 02 from Supela, 01 from Vaishali Nagar, 07 from Chhawani, 08 from Jamul, 08 from Old Bhilai, 06 from Khursipar, 24 from Durg, 04 from Mohan Nagar, 02 from Pulgaon and 02 ruffians involved in online betting have been arrested from Utai area. The special operation will continue in future as well.
On Monday, Police arrested 24 people involved in operations of Mahadev Book Online betting. Police were maintaining continuous vigil on the activities of suspects. In this sequel, they received a tip off that some ruffians involved in Mahadev Book Online Betting were trying to flee to Chennai. Police team immediately swung into action and the accused were taken into custody. The arrested accused are identified as Waheed Khan of Banspara Durg, Sandeep Yadav of Shivpara Durg, Rinku Sen of Hatri Bazar Durg, Rohit Kumar of Titurdih Durg, Vivek Madame of Om Nagar Urla, Sanjay Chaudhary of Zone 01 Khursipar, Mukesh Sharma of Shankar Nagar Chhawani, Rajkumar Nishad of Chhawani Basti, Lalit Mahilang of Shankar Nagar Chhawani, Sanjay Patwa of Camp 02, Sunil Prasad of Rajiv Nagar Chhawani, Govind Vishwakarma of Gautam Nagar Khursipar, Rinku Gupta of Rajiv Nagar Jamul, Abhilash Choudhary of Camp 02 Bhilai, Vijay Deshlehare of Bajrangpara Jamul, Kewal Joshi of Labour Camp Jamul, Abhishek Kumar Prasad of Zone -02 Khursipar, Rahul Chauhan of Power House Bhilai, Sanjay Giri of Maya Nagar Ruabandha, Deepak Kumar of Adarshpara Tanki Maroda, Gautam Pal of Station Maroda Newai, Shimas Siqqhiqui of Bajrang Chowk Tanki Maroda, Saurabh Kotare of Azad Chowk Ruabandha Basti and Raj Bandhe of Pragati Nagar Risali. During preliminary interrogation, they tried to mislead but later they confessed involvement in online betting rackets. Police seized Rs 20320 cash, betting records, calculator etc from the possession of the accused. Further legal action is being taken against the detained persons from Police Stations Chhawani, Jamul, Mohan Nagar, Durg, Newai, Bhilai Nagar, Old Bhilai and Khursipar.
