Oppn creates ruckus in Ch’garh Legislative Assembly

Raipur: Principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday created ruckus in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly stalling the proceedings of function demanding immediate discussion on key issues related with farmers.

All the 14 MLAs of BJP were automatically suspended after they entered into the well of the House to press for their demand. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as well as Dr Renu Jogi and Dharmjeet Singh too joined them and were also suspended from the day’s proceedings. Raising the issue during Zero-Hour, the BJP Legislators Shivratan Sharma, Narayan Chandel and others raised demand on adjournment motion on the issue of denial to the farmers new agriculture loan from Banks as well as erratic supply of electricity to them for agriculture.

Sharma said that the Congress had promised loan waiver of farmers within 10 days on government formation whereas the farmers are still struggling to get the loan waiver forcing them to commit suicide. He further alleged that the farmers are not able to get electricity for farming whereas government is also not extending support to them to provide them with seeds and fertilizers. BJP MLA Narayan Chandel too gave statements in support to his adjournment motion seeking immediate discussion on it.

Ajit Jogi from Chhattisgarh Janta Congress (J) too sought the view of agriculture minister on the prevailing scenario on farm loan waiver. He sought availability of Fertilizers to the farmers as part of the exercise to bring solution to the farmers woes. Former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Ajay Chandrakar from Kurud and Brijmohan Agrawal from Raipur South too joined them seeking immediate discussion on it.

However, the Presiding Officer turned down their adjournment motion which prompted the opposition members start raising anti-government slogans for next 10 minutes. Further they entered into the Well of the House to stall the proceedings which made them automatically suspended. Later, the Assembly Speaker revoked their suspension. Ongoing Monsoon Session was adjourned till Thursday morning after the Treasury bench present four amendments Bills on Tuesday afternoon.
