Online fraud dupes man of Rs 27000

Raipur, Jul 15: Unidentified online fraud has siphoned Rs 27000 from the bank account of man in Urla without making any call to him regarding any banking purpose. The fraud came to light on Monday when the victim suddenly received a message about deduction of the amount for an online payment.

The fraud was soon complained in Urla police station following which police have launched an investigation. According to police, complainant Dhirendra Rai was working in his office when he received an SMS notifying about online payment of Rs 27000 from his bank account maintained at Urla branch of State Bank of India.

Stunned upon receiving the message, Dhirendra rushed to his bank where it was told to him that the online payment has been made from his account from some place outside the state while was still retaining his debit and credit cards safely with him. Dhirendra then reached Urla police station and lodged a complaint with regards to the fraud following which police registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against unidentified fraud and is now investigating the matter further.
