Online FDP on 3D Printing & Design inaugurated in CCET

Bhilai, Dec 15: A Five day long online faculty development programme is being organised by Department of Mechanical Engineering, Christian College of Engineering & Technology, under ATAL Scheme on the topic, ‘3D Printing & Design’ from December 14 to 18, 2021. Forty such programmes have started simultaneously and are being conducted by various prominent organizations of India engaging distinguished experts from academia, industry, research organizations from within the country and abroad. A common online Inaugural Ceremony was organised by AICTE on December 13, 2021. Prof Pramod M Padole, Director, VNIT Nagpur graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Prof MP Poonia, Vice-Chairman, AICTE and Arun T Ramchandani, Executive VP, L&T Defence Business were the Guest of Honour and the Special Guest respectively. Prof Padole emphasised the necessities of collaboration between medical professionals and engineers to develop implants and medical equipment for the betterment of mankind. He also suggested the use of advanced technologies in rural area and agricultural sector to improve the living standard of rural people. Ramchandani advocated the association of research labs and industries to commercialise the new developed products.
This FDP was inaugurated on Dec 14, 2021 at institute level virtually by lighting the lamp with Saraswati Vandana. Rev Fr Kurian John, Executive Vice Chairman expressed the hope of big changes in the world and lowering the manufacturing cost of products due to the use of emerging technologies. Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, explained how 3D printing technologies are advantageous as compared to traditional technologies. On the first day of the FDP Dr Soumya Gangopadhyay, IIT Bhilai, Manish Tak, ACRI, Hyderabad and Dr Jagadish, NIT Raipur delivered the talks on ‘Introduction to 3D Printing’, ‘Directed Energy Deposition and Repair & Refurbishment’ and ‘Materials for 3D Printing’ respectively.
At start of the program, Dr PS Rao, HOD, welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and give a brief introduction of the institute. Dr RH Gajghat, Coordinator, conducted the program and proposed the vote of thanks. His Grace Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chairman, congratulated the coordinator for organising the ATAL FDP and gave best wishes to all the participants participated from all over India.
