‘Officials should send the proposals of necessity and local utility under MNREGA as soon as possible’

Raipur, Apr 03: Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain chaired the meeting of State Level Empowerment Committee under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme, which was held through video conferencing at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhavan here on Saturday. Chief Secretary has instructed the departmental officers to send proposals for works of necesicity and local utility under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA as soon as possible. At the meeting, Chief Secretary reviewed the MNREGA works department-wise.
It was informed in the meeting that employment of nearly 18 crore 15 lakh man-days have been created in various districts of the state against the labour budget sanctioned under MNREGA for financial year 2020-21. Similarly, construction of 5 thousand 725 gauthans has also been completed under MNREGA. Also, nearly 34 thousand 74 vermi compost tanks have also been constructed. In the state, forest rights holders are being provided employment under MNREGA. So far, about 92 thousand 690 forest rights holders in the state have been provided employment under MNREGA.
In the meeting, sanction of advance amount for additional 50 days of employment from the state head under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA was also discussed. Recruitment on the state, district, janpad and gram panchayat-level vacant posts under MNREGA as honorarium posts and new technical posts was also discussed in the meeting. Officials have been directed to do recruitment on important posts as soon as possible. The proposal to approve new posts under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district was also approved in the meeting.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain has instructed the officials to ensure that the priority works of Honorable Chief Minister under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA are completed at the earliest. Pending construction works of platforms for paddy storage under MNREGA should be completed soon. It was informed in the meeting that more than 7 thousand 600 platforms have been constructed in the paddy collection centers of the state. Construction of at least one gauthan in each Gram Panchayat and construction of vermi compost tank in each gauthan, and organizing of livelihood activities in the gauthans was discussed in detail in the meeting and necessary guidelines were issued to the officials.
The meeting was attended by R. Prasanna, Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Mrs. Alarmel Mangai D, Secretary Finance Department, Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Secretary Food, Forest, and officials of Agriculture, Rural Development, Water Resources, Water Shed, Livestock Development and other departments.
