CM awards 159 talented students at felicitation ceremony

Raipur, May 23: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today awarded 159 meritorious students of Class 10th and Class 12th board examinations conducted by Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education in the year 2019 and 2020. The 159 meritorious students and talented students belonging to special backward tribe were awarded medals and certificates under Swami Atmanand Meritorious Students Incentive Scheme, at virtual felicitation ceremony held at CM House.
Baghel congratulated all the talented students and their parents and teachers. Under Swami Atmanand Meritorious Student Incentive Scheme, an amount of Rs 1.50 lakh is given to the students securing first position in the merit list of examinations. According to him talent felicitation ceremony is the most important and glorious occasion. According to him goals in life can be achieved only through education. Education gives positive direction to life, he said.
Describing students as future of the country and state he called upon talented students to scale new heights in the development of science, art, culture and administration with their talent. The Chief Minister also took information from all the students about their family background and their goals one by one. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is providing all possible help to talented students in their pursuit of higher education. He appealed to them to study sincerely to make their parents proud and bring laurels to Chhattisgarh with their achievements. He said that he was happy to talk to all the students. He further exhorted children to assimilate good ideas apart from study.
Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam in his address congratulated students attaining first position in merito lists and extended his best wishes to them. He said that talented students would contribute in development and social upliftment in the state. The Education Minister said that 28 students belonging to special backward tribes who attained highest marks in the board examinations in the special backward tribe category were also honored under Swami Atmanand Meritorious Student Incentive Scheme.
Secretary of the Board of Secondary Education Prof VK Goyal said that apart from 123 meritorious students of high school and higher secondary examinations 2019 and 2020, 15 students who secured first position in different streams and 28 students obtaining maximum marks in the category of special backward tribe were awarded medals and certificates under the scheme. Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Principal Secretary School Education Dr Alok Shukla and Director Public Instructions Jitendra Shukla were present.
