Notorious thieves arrested with Rs 11.50 lakh booty

Bhilai, Sep 10: Police have arrested three notorious thieves and have recovered stolen booty worth Rs 11.50 lakh. One of the accused spent some portion of the stolen cash to install CCTV Camera at his residence. Kingpin of this gang was earlier imprisoned for attempt to murder and mobile lifting. 235 grams of gold jewellery, silver ornaments, wrist watches and cash were recovered from their possession.
While addressing media persons here at Durg on Friday, CSP Kaushalendra Dev Patel informed that on the instructions of SP Badri Narayan Meena and ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruw, the Police Beet system is being strengthened for effective crime control and speedy police action in cases of criminal incidents. On August 13, Police received a complaint from 70-year-old retired Coal India employee Purushottam Jayant Chaudhary regarding theft at his residence situated in Saket Colony, Katulbod.
The victim resides alone at this house and on August 12, he had gone to his brother’s place in Sector 2. When he returned late evening, he found that the lock was broken and gold – silver jewellery were stolen from the almirah. An FIR was lodged against unidentified thieves under section 457, 380 of IPC.
Taking the matter into serious cognizance, police started maintaining vigil on the suspects, especially those who were spending more than their income. The network of informers was also activated. Acting on a tip off, police rounded up two suspects identified as Shankar Nath and Akash Yadav from Agrasen Square, Durg. During interrogation, they confessed to have committed theft at a house in Saket Colony, Durg. The accused disclosed that they have sold some of the stolen booty to one Karan Patil of Raipur.
Police recovered 235 grams of gold ornaments, silver jewellery, 4 nos mobile phones, three nos wrist watches and Rs 3000 cash from the possession of the accused. Raipur Police assisted the Durg Police for recovery of the stolen booty.
The accused Shankar Nath alias Bittu (21) son of Rupesh Nath a resident of Katulbod; Akash Yadav alias Goldie (21) a resident of Scindia Nagar, Durg and Karan Patil (25) son of Bharat Patil a resident of Gol Bazar, Raipur were arrested and produced before the court. The accused have been sent to jail on judicial remand. Constable Sanat Bharti of Mohan Nagar Police Station played vital role in tracing the suspects. ASI Pramod Singh and staff of Mohan Nagar Police Station played vital role solving the case.
