
Bhilai, Oct 10: Police have arrested a notorious mobile lifter who targeted the people in market places. ASP (Rural) Praggya Meshram informed that considering the rising cases of thefts and mobile lifting incidents in rural areas of the district, SP Prashant Thakur had directed to conduct special operations to trap the accused. Accordingly, a team was constituted by Patan Police for tracing the accused. Under the guidance of SDOP (Patan) Akash Rao Girepunje, the team of Inspector Shivanand Tiwari started maintaining vigil on the activities of suspects and criminal record holders. The network of informers was also activated for the purpose.
On August 27, a mobile phone of Abhanpur resident Ram Kumar Sinha was stolen from the weekly market of Patan. After receiving complaint, Police started tracking the stolen mobile phone. On the basis of Cyber cell inputs, Police rounded up a suspect who was trying to sell a stolen mobile phone. The suspect Narayan Sonwani (22) son of Sakharam Sonwani a resident of Khallari (Mahasamund) confessed to have stolen a Realme 5 Pro mobile phone worth Rs 20000 from the victim Ram Kumar Sinha. He further disclosed to have stolen several mobile phones from the market places of Patan and selling the same in Mahasamund. ASI Surendra Taram, Constable Sarvesh Prajapati and Patrolling Staff of Patan Police Station played vital role in arresting the accused.
