NMC nod for 5 MD seats in forensic medicine of Pt JNMMC

 

Raipur, May 10: Letter of Intent (LOI) from National Medical Council (NMC) has been issued to start post graduate course in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT) Department at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College (Pt JNMMC) Raipur. With this the admission can be allowed on maximum five MD seats in the college from academic session 2023-24. The NMC team had inspected the department on January 5, 2023 on the application of the college for this course.

On finding the faculty, their experience, research publications, teaching facilities and available infrastructure satisfactory and prescribed parameters in the inspection, NMC has given permission to start this new postgraduate course. To fulfill the formalities, an undertaking will be given from the government to provide all the necessary facilities for the smooth conduct of this course and to provide stipend to the admitted students as per the rules. On that basis, Letter of Permission (LOP) will be obtained.

With the introduction of this course, the long-standing endeavor of a postgraduate course in Forensic Medicine has come to fruition. The department has got commendable achievement under the guidance of Head of the Department Dr Snigdha Bansal Jain and Professor Dr RK Singh. the number of admission seats in postgraduate courses (M.D./M.S.) has now increased to 150 in all 21 departments in this college under the leadership of Dean Dr Tripti Nagaria.
