NJCS sub committee discusses designation issue

Bhilai, June 01: On Monday, a meeting of the NJCS subcommittee was held for discussing the issue of respectful designation of the SAIL employees. The virtual meeting began at 12:00 hrs and concluded at 14:15 hrs. On the basis of the discussions held in the meeting, SAIL management is going to prepare a draft and it will be sent to all the units for discussions / suggestions at unit level. The received suggestions will be again discussed by the subcommittee and final decision will be taken thereafter.
The unions gave their suggestions regarding re-designation of employees. AITUC leader A D Adinarayana demanded that the diploma engineers should be given joining as Junior Engineer. Further, diploma engineer should be recruited in S6 grade instead of S3 grade, similarly the ITI or equivalent should be recruited from S1 to S3. The union demanded to upgrade the entry level of Diploma Engineers. Adinarayana added that all the unions have same opinion about the designation of Non Works employees. Several other issues were discussed in the meeting. ED (P&A, SAIL) KK Singh on behalf of the management finally said that a draft will be sent to all HOPs from SAIL office. After discussing the issue at unit level on this draft, it will be sent again to the SAIL Head Office and this will again be placed in this subcommittee and the final decision will be taken. Everyone was of the view that the social status of the employees should be taken in to consideration. On behalf of HMS Union, Rajendra Singh and Sashadhar Nayak attended the meeting. They said that when the negotiations of wage revision are going on, it would have been better to hold discussions on the wage revision only instead of organising meeting for designation issue. The union forwarded a proposal on the designation and asserted on reinstatement of the employees who have been suspended. The union proposed S-1-Technician Grade 2; S-2-Technician Grade 1; S-3- Junior Engineer Grade 3; S-4- Junior Engineer Grade 2; S-5- Junior Engineer Grade 1; S-6- Assistant Engineer Grade 3; S-7- Assistant Engineer Grade 2; S-8- Assistant Engineer Grade 1; S-9- Section Engineer Grade 2; S-10-Section Engineer Grade 1; S-11- Senior Section Engineer; entry level ITI in S-3; Diploma & Equivalent in S-6 grade.
