NGT suggest ways for disposition of wastes

Raipur, May 30: National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday conducted a meeting with officials of Raipur Railway Division , Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) and Ministry of Urban Development in connection with disposal of waste that comes out from railway station and railway colonies. The meeting organized at DRM conference hall apprised in details about NGT guidelines. Ajay Malu SE, CECB and OSD Ministry of Housing and Environment and other officials said, wet and dry wastes coming out from both these places are to be treated as per bio-medical waste disposal guidelines of NGT, ban use of plastics etc. It was informed that waste coming out of railway area is disposed off and the cost is borne by railways. Speaking on this occasion DRM Raipur Kaushal Kishore said, railway has already taken an initiative for cleanliness and SECR stands first in cleanliness ranking. The cleanliness in trains, railway station premises and colonies are done as per NGT standards, DRM added. The meeting was attended by ADRM duo Shiv Shankar Lakra and Amitabh Choudhary, CMS Dr B Chakravorty and other senior officials. Sr DME ( O&F) proposed vote of thanks the end.
