Newly elected MLA from Marwahi Dr Dhruv takes oath

The newly-elected MLA from Marwahi assembly constituency (No 24) in Chhattisgarh Dr KK Dhruv was sworn-in on Friday. Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant administered oath of office and secrecy to Dr Dhruv at Legislative Assembly premises here. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, parliamentary affairs minister Ravindra Choubey, home minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, food minister Amarjeet Bhagat and other MLAs were present at swearing-in-ceremony. Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh Assembly Chandra Shekhar Gangrade was also present at oath-taking ceremony.
After oath-taking ceremony the Speaker Dr Mahant and Chief Minister Baghel extended greetings and best wishes to Dr Dhruv by presenting bouquets to him. Dr Dhruv contested Marwahi assembly by-election with Congress ticket and defeated Dr Gambhir Singh of BJP by a margin of 38197 votes. Dr Dhruv of Congress polled total 83561 while 45364 votes were received by Dr Gambhir Singh. With this win, the number of Congress seats in 90-member Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly rose to 70.
