Nation will now speak about Chhattisgarh model of development: CM

Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, Nov 14: On Sunday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the Gujarat model of economic growth and development which was highlighted till 2014 is actually a myth. Instead of accelerating the progress and development, it has taken inflation to its extreme and elevated the problem of unemployment in the nation.
Now, the model which will work in the nation will be the successful model of Chhattisgarh. The farmers here are presently getting Rs 2500 per quintal MSP for paddy which is going to increase gradually and in the next couple of years, the farmers will get Rs 2800 per quintal MSP for paddy, assured Baghel while addressing a public rally in Power House.
CM Bhupesh Baghel launched the state-wide campaign against uncontrolled inflation from Bhilai on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. Baghel led a padyatra which began from Potti Shriramulu Squre and moved across Subhash Square, Bhagat Singh Bharat Mata Square, Jalebi Square, Link Road, Fruit mandi Road and concluded at Lal Maidan in Chhawani. Remembering the first prime minister on his 132nd birth anniversary, Baghel said that Bhilai Steel Plant came into existence with the initiatives of Pt Nehru.
He had termed the industries as the temples of modern India. People from all states of the nation reside here with peace and harmony. Bhilai inhibits the people who have deep understanding of national politics. For this reason only, the Pradesh Congress Committee decided to launch the campaign from Bhilai.
CM further said that the entire population is troubled due to price rise of commodities and fuel. On the other hand, the economy has collapsed. The LPG cylinders which were available for Rs 400 during Congress rule are now being sold for Rs 971. The vehicle fuel rates have crossed Rs 100 mark.
It was a time when Hema Malini, Smriti Irani and Saroj Pandey used to demonstrate on roads with LPG cylinders criticising the union government for price rise. But today they are not protesting the uncontrolled inflation.
However, the public is not silent and is continuously giving a lesson to the Union Government. Defeat of BJP in the recent by-polls was the clear indication of public anger over inflation. It was after this defeat only that the union government immediately reduced the fuel prices by Rs 10 for diesel and Rs 5 for petrol.
Baghel urged the people to teach a lesson to BJP in the upcoming vidhan sabha elections in five states. He asserted that it will definitely help in reducing the fuel prices and thereby controlling the inflation.
Baghel said that BJP must realise that it is not just the leader of its few businessmen friends but they are representing the entire population of India. The union government has to think about the welfare of every person.
Speaking about the wage revision of SAIL employees, Baghel said that BSP employees were expecting payment of arrears before the festival of Diwali but the Steel Minister had no time to sign the file due to which the arrears is yet to be paid.
Baghel said that representatives of BSP’s trade union had recently approached him with this problem after which he is continuously trying to discuss the issue with the Steel Minister.
Baghel said that it is very surprising the Steel Minister is unable to spare a few minutes to talk to a Chief Minister or sign the documents of wage revision. He asserted that the union government is actually willing to sell out the Bhilai Steel Plant and other PSUs.
BJPians often questioned what Congress did in 70 years of rule. Baghel answered that Congress has established the PSUs, Airports, Railway Stations etc which are now being sold by BJP. Baghel announced that they will never allow the privatisation of Bhilai Steel Plant.
Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu spoke about the initiatives of the state government which ensured progress and provided financial strength to farmers. He claimed that it was due to these initiatives that inflation failed to make much impact on Chhattisgarh population. He added that BJPians have expertise in telling lies and misleading the people. He urged people to support Congress in the upcoming elections.
PCC Chief Mohan Markam said that the BJP Union Government is looting the pockets of the people. During the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as PM, the government imposed Rs 9.81 per litre excise duty on petrol but today it has been increased to Rs 32.90 per litre. At that time, the price of crude oil was Rs 110 per barrel and petrol was available for Rs 62 – 65. Today the crude oil price has dropped to Rs 82 per barrel but the price of petrol has hit the century. With the introduction of GST and demonetisation, the income of about 97% of the population was reduced to half. During Modi rule, about 25 crore population again slipped down below poverty line. The person who used to sell tea is now moving ahead to sell the entire nation, he said.
Bhilai Nagar MLA Devendra Yadav and AICC National Secretary Dr Chandan Yadav also addressed the gathering. MLA Arun Vora, DCC President Mukesh Chandrakar, Ram Gopal Agrawal, Pradeep Choube, Pratima Chandrakar, Laxman Chandrakar, District Panchayat President Shalini Yadav, Antyavasayi Corporation Vice President Neeta Lodhi, Girish Dewangan, Vinod Chandrakar and others were present.
