Museum in Korba city to get a new look, people to be familiar with heritage

Collector Ranu Sahu chaired a meeting of the District Culture and Archaeological Association at the conference hall in Collectorate recently. Development of District Archaeological Museum located in Korba city and steps to make the museum attractive to the general public were discussed at the meeting which was also attended by Vice Chairman of Infrastructure and Upgradation Development Authority and MLA of Pali Tanakhar area, Mohit Ram Kerketta.
Decoration of the district museum and construction of a pedestal for placing the archaeological items were also discussed. The museum will be furnished with attractive paint and pedestals will also be constructed to house as many archaeological objects as possible. A discussion was held regarding the upgradation work of the museum and the survey for the archaeological heritage. Discussion was also held to conduct village wise survey for the discovery of archaeological heritage.
MLA Kerketta informed about availability of ancient and archaeological things in Korba district. He also informed about a site which is full of natural beauty in Korba district.
The objects of ancient importance found in the district will be kept in a well-equipped manner in the district museum for the people coming to Korba for tourism and the residents of the district. Apart from collection of archaeological things, discussions were held to develop Nursing Ganga, Chaiturgarh, Tehrisarai and Buka in the district.
Collector Ranu Sahu also discussed plan to organize a national level research seminar in Korba district.
She also talked about the proposal to organize a seminar based on archaeological sites and rock shelters of Korba district in the seminar. According to her national level seminar should be organized in Satrenga, which is being developed as an international tourist destination.
Satrenga tourist destination can be recognized globally if seminar is organize in this place. Collector Mrs Sahu gave instructions to the officers to give salary for the month of April to family of ex-watchman in the Archaeological Association Korba late Bholaram Shrivas after his demise.
A discussion was also held regarding the appointment of a new watchman in the museum. Collector Mrs Sahu also instructed the officers in the meeting to send the proposal to the Directorate of Culture and Archeology to remove the discrepancy in the salary of Harisingh Kshatriya, the guide working in the District Museum.
