MLAs submit nearly 2000 questions during Budget Session

Raipur, Feb 12: With just few days left for the Budget session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, the MLAs from both the principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as well as ruling Congress have so far submitted nearly 2000 questions to grill the Treasury bench.
According to the official information, the MLAs have submitted 1915 questions including the 1039 starred questions which they would be asking during the Question Hour session in the upcoming session scheduled to begin from February 22 onwards.
Through the questions, the MLAs would not only raise the questions related with their respective Legislative Assembly constituencies but would also grill the Ministers over several issues like reported irregularities in paddy procurement, law and order situation as well as other construction works.
Apart from the questions, the MLAs from all the opposition parties have also submitted notices for detail discussion through call attention motion. Similarly, the BJP MLAs meet would be held in next few days to chalk out strategy against the Congress government on key issues. Opposition MLAs may also come up with adjournment motion on several issues including the paddy procurement and paddy bonus to the farmers.
Similarly, the ruling Congress government may also being legislations during the upcoming session. At the same time, the annual budget for the fiscal 2021-22 would be presented in the first week of March whereas second Supplementary Budget for the fiscal 2020-21 would be presented during the inaugural days.
State Cabinet meet scheduled to be held on February 13 may give consent to the draft Budget for the fiscal 2021-22 which would be presented by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel who also holds the Finance portfolio.
