‘Misbehaviour with female RS MPs is murder of democracy’

Raipur, Aug 19: In protest against alleged incident of manhandling of female MPs from Chhattisgarh in Rajya Sabha over Pegasus spyware issue and demand for withdrawal of new farm laws, the Chief Minister of State Bhupesh Baghel along with cabinet Ministers, all senior Congress leaders and MLAs staged ‘silent protest’ observing ‘moun-vrat’ (silent protest) amidst drizzle since evening hours at Gandhi Maidan here on Thursday.
CM Bhupesh Baghel took part in this protest observing ‘moun-vrat’ for about one hour. In this Minister Ravindra Choubey charged the BJP led government at the Centre of restoring to physical suppression in order to contain voice of MPs registering protest in decent manner in RS.
Many a party workers of Congress reached Gandhi Maidan before 5:00 pm and here by opening protest below statue of Mahatma Gandhi, CM Bhupesh Baghel, all cabinet Ministers, MLAs and PCC office bearers staged protest. The Congress office bearers and workers were carrying placards in their hand bearing slogans ‘mahila sansado ki hui pitai, modi tumko sharam nahi aai’; ‘adivasi mahila ka aapman nahi sahenge’ ; ‘loktantra ki hatya nahia sahenge’.
Speaking on the occasion Ravindra Choubey charged that BJP is resorting to ‘goodaism’ in the Centre and by misbehaving against the female MPs they have literary involved in murder of democracy and Chhattisgarh Congress will not tolerate it. This protest which started at around 5:15 continued till 6:15 amidst light showers and in this along with two RS MPs, all cabinet Ministers, MLAs and office bearers of PCC were present in large number.
In this protest cabinet Minister Ravindra Choubey, Urban administration Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Forest Minister Mohammed Akbar, PHE Minister Rurdrakumar, MLA Vikas Upadhyay, PCC Chief Mohan Markam, MLA Amitesh Shukla, Dhanendra Sahu and other senior party MLAs and leaders staged huge protest at Gandhi Maidan. In this protest the President of State Mahila Congress and Rajya Sabha MP Phulodevi Netam and Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma were also present along with party workers of Pradesh Mahila Congress (PMC).
