Mayor inspects cow dung procurement center

Bhilai, Oct 28: Bhilai Mayor and MLA Devendra Yadav visited the cow dung procurement center operated in Zone Number 4. He appreciated the work being done by the women and watched over various products made from cow dung. Encouraging the women, he immediately ordered to prepare 100 packets of the diwali gift. A packet contains a small and a large Ganesha statue, a lotus-shaped decoration statue, small and big variety of lamps. Devendra said that the Godhan Nyaya Yojana is an ambitious plan of the state government. Women are generating income by making vermi compost from cow dung and preparing other products. To make the women self-reliant, this scheme has been linked to the Self Help Groups so that they get employment and their economic condition can be improved further. Mayor Devendra Yadav and Municipal Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi are regularly inspecting the dung procurement centers. The cow dung procurement center in Khursipar is producing 10000 diyaa per day. In view of upcoming festival of Diwali, they are producing statues of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and other types of decorative items along with the diyas. SHG President Bharti Pakhale informed that women have prepared 1.5 lakh diyas of various sizes and have received orders of one lakh diyas. It is worth mentioning that many cattle owners used to throw cow dung here and there but now they are earning profit by joining the ambitious scheme of the government. Zone Commissioner Amitabh Sharma, Executive Engineer Sanjay Bagde, Assistant Engineer Akhilesh Chandrakar, Deputy Engineers Nitesh Meshram and Chandrakant Sahu were also present during Mayor’s visit.
