Raipur, May 22: Discussion over disposal of surplus paddy through auction and rates obtained through auction for sale of surplus paddy in Kharif marketing year 2020-21 was held at a virtual meeting of the cabinet sub-committee chaired by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Amarjit Bhagat on Friday.
It was decided at the meeting to sell surplus paddy on maximum rates obtained by MARKFED in auction.
The cabinet sub-committee meeting was attended by Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ravindra Choubey, Transport Minister Mohammad Akbar, School Education Minister Dr Premasai Singh Tekam and Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel.
Discussion was held at length over approval of the rates received in the paddy auction held on May 17 to May 20, 2021. Paddy inflow in Rabi season, possibility of early onset of rainy season and current rates pertaining to quantity presented in the auction of paddy recently.
Keeping in view all such circumstances, the earlier approved rates were reduced by Rs 50 per quintal.
MARKFED received different proposals according to varieties of paddy at the auction. MARKFED officials said that the auction was done for a total of 14 lots of 91 thousand 94 quintal thick and sarna paddy and 17 lots of 48 thousand one quintal grade-A (thin) paddy. Rs 1350 per quintal and above for thick and sarna paddy and Rs 1400 or more for grade-A (thin) paddy were approved. The cabinet sub committee approved these approved rates also.
