Many women got seriously injured in minor stampede

Raipur/ Balod, Nov 29: The patience of last one month for selling of paddy on MSP by farmers seems to be breaking as on the first day of start of issuing of token to farmers there was so much of rush in Paddy Procurement Centre (PPC) Piparchedi that around 17 senior females standing in the queue fell down due to minor stampede and in this quite a few of them got seriously injured as well. The incident took place at PPC Piparchedi and there was long queue of farmers here on Monday to get the token and in this many a senior female members from farmer’s family too were present. All of sudden when the counter opened, the farmers turned impatient and this resulted in minor stampede and in this 17 senior women standing in the queue got injured.
It is notable here that this time in the entire season, the farmers instead of getting five tokens will be issued only three and due to which the farmers are forming queue for getting token well in advance, so as not to miss any chance of selling their entire lot of paddy well on time. On Monday the farmers from four villages near PPC Piparchedi were present to get their token and in this there were many females also present.

Manager suspsended

The manager of Sewa Sahakari Samiti Piparchedi Yashwant Kumar Sahu has been suspended by CEO District Co-op Centrel Bank Durg with charges of showing carelessness in issuing of token from his centre. As per reports YK Sahu adopting lackadaisical an attitude issued notice in all the villages coming under Piparchedi PPC and due to which there was huge crowd at the Centre to get token on time. Due to sheer mismanagement in handing this crowd, there was minor stampede at the PPC and due to which around 17 women got injured

Collector, SP conducts inspection
On hearing about the news of farmers reaching in large number at PPC Piparchedi and failing to handle this crowd, the Collector Janmajay Mohobe and SP Sadanand Kumar reached the site and took stock of arrangements made there. Collector informed that the injured female persons after treatment at Primary Health Centre were discharged and the normalcy was restored.
