On the very day of voting for choosing the national government, the Pakistani city of Karachi suffered a major bomb blast. It is estimated that so far 34 people have died in a blast that took place outside a polling station in Pakistan’s Quetta city.
Many others are said to be injured and have been rushed to the nearby hospital. There have been several violence incidents reported across the country.
Local media reports have also reported that in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province also, a suicide blast targeting a police van killed at least 31 people.
Those killed included five policemen and two minors. It is said that a suicide bomber wanted to enter the polling station near Quetta’s Eastern Bypass.
In a separate incident, four people were injured in a cracker blast outside a political camp in Larkana. Meanwhile, PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the deadly suicide attack in Quetta.
PTI-chief Imran Khan also condemned the terrorist attack. The voting in Pakistan started at 8 AM local time on more than 85000 polling stations.
