Maharashtra: BJP emerges as single party in Nagar Panchayat Poll result, NCP bags second position

In Maharashtra, Bhartiya Janata Party has emerged as the single largest party after winning 384 in the recently-held Nagar panchayat elections. Close to 1800 seats were in contention spread across 106 Nagar panchayats. While counting for nine local bodies in Gadchiroli will take place today.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is second with 344 seats, Congress is third with 316 seats and the Shiv Sena stands fourth with 284 seats.

In a tweet, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said, people have stood firmly behind the party despite the gross misuse of money and muscle power by the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government. He said BJP has won almost 30 Nagar panchayats with the help of its allies.
