Heavy police deployment in lanes and localities

Raipur, Sep 22: Amid increasing cases of COVID-19 infection in Raipur the Raipur district administration has declared lockdown to curb the spread of the dreadful virus. A week-long complete lockdown has come into force since 9 pm on September 21 in entire Raipur district for prevention of Coronavirus infection. The lockdown which came into force at 9 pm on September 21 will last till September 28. The busy streets and roads in Raipur city wore a deserted look and shops remained closed on the first day of lockdown today.
In order to break the chain on coronavirus infection the district administration has enforced lockdown in the district on September 21 night for a week. No activities except milk, medicine and petrol supply are permitted. Roads were seen without traffic as no taxis, autos or private transport were allowed to operate.
GE Road and several busy areas such as Malviya Road, Station Road, Jail Road, Lodhipara Chowk, Shankar Nagar, Pachpedi Naka, Mahoba Bazaar, Tatibandh and Telibandha looked deserted. All business establishments remained completely shut. Seeing barricading at different locations in the city and movement of police patrolling vehicles most of the people preferred to be at their homes.
Except few people who came out to buy milk in the morning, all the roads in the city looked abandoned after 8 am. Grocery and vegetable sellers were instructed to keep their shops shut. Police have already made it clear that strict action would be taken against those seen on the roads without any purpose. All petrol pumps, medical stores, hospitals and private clinics opened as usual.

Collector, SP visit city to ensure compliance of lockdown
Raipur: Collector and SP today visited various parts of the capital to ensure compliance of lockdown which has been declared for a week since September 21 night for prevention of Coronavirus infection. The Collector and SP reviewed measures for implementation of lockdown and inspected testing centres besides appealing to the people to avoid going out of their homes. People should go out of their homes only when required, they said.
