Let the opposition parties go to voters

The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by 14 opposition parties, including Congress, DMK, and TMC, to have a separate set of rules for politicians. The court said that politicians stand on the same footing as the rest of the citizens of the country and that the same laws apply to them. The Chief Justice of India added that the remedy for opposition parties, whose political space they say has shrunk, is in that space, not the court. The opposition parties need to go to the voters and make public-oriented programmes, as they have lost contact with the voters, and the public support is essential for them. The parliament’s disturbance caused by opposition parties has not allowed any legislative work to be completed, and they should allow parliament to function in the national interest.
