Already serving jail term for fodder scam, the former Union Minister Lalu Yadav has been awarded five years sentence today in the third case of fodder scam by a special Ranchi based CBI court.
It need be mentioned that verdicts in two other cases are expected over the next few months.
The fodder scam involved the embezzlement of more than Rs. 970 crore in government funds during Lalu Yadav’s term as the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar from 1990 to 1997.
In this case, however, the former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra has also been convicted in this one.
Lalu Yadav is already serving in Birsa Munda jail and had been sentenced to three-and-a-half-year in prison for an earlier case.
