Kerala: Four wagons of goods train derails near Aluva Railway station

In Kerala, four wagons of a goods train derailed near Aluva Railway station last night disrupting rail traffic. One of the two tracks was restored for traffic early this morning. Efforts are on to restore rail traffic on the second line.

The train was carrying 42 wagons of cement from Yerraguntala in Andhra Pradesh to Kollam in Kerala.

Five trains including the Guruvayoor-Thiruvananthapuram Intercity and the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity were cancelled following the derailment. The Ernakulam-Pune Express has been rescheduled to begin its journey at 8.15 this morning and will be running three hours late.
