Karnataka Govt sanction 1.9 crore for designing and launching of nano satellite by school students

Karnataka Government has sanctioned a sum of 1.9 crore rupees for designing and launching of a nano satellite by the government school students. The nano satellite to be designed and developed in the state will be one among the 75 Nano satellites to be launched on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit mahotsav celebration marking 75th year of India’s Independence at the national level.

Talking to media persons in Bengaluru yesterday, Science and Technology Minister Dr. C N Aswhatha Narayana said, Karnataka Science and Technological Promotion Society has launched the nano satellite project named Karnataka Government school students satellite or KGS3Sat project. ISRO and Indian Technology Congress Association will provide the technical know-how. A technical experts committee will be constituted to monitor the implementation of the project and a timeline of 12 months has been set to complete it. The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre will facilitate necessary approval for the launch of the nano satellite. The minister said that this project will nurture scientific thinking among children and promote technological awareness among the student community.
