Bhilai, Mar 15: Dr Jyothi Pillai was awarded with ‘”Distinguished Woman in Science’ (Computer Applications)” by Venus International Foundation at the recently organised Annual Women Meet (AWM) to felicitate woman achievers in different disciplines of Science and Engineering. In AWM 2018 held at Chennia, Dr Jyothi Pillai was awarded with Distinguished Woman in Science (Computer Applications). Jyothi, Associate Professor in Bhilai Institute of Technology, has been awarded a certificate, Bronze medal, Memento for her initiatives and developments in the field of Computer Science.
Dr. Jyothi Pillai, an outstanding student since school days (MGM & BSP Schools) graduated in Mathematics. Having developed a love for Computers, after completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she thought of taking excellence in field of Computer Science and therefore pursued her Master’s Degree in Computer Applications. She started her Professional Career as Lecturer and Departmental Incharge (CS) at Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya from 1995. After working for 6 years she joined BIT and started her research work and was awarded Doctorate for her research work in field of “Exploration of Soft Computing Approaches In Temporal Itemset Utility Mining in 2016. She has authored and published book chapters and research papers in various National and International Journals and Conference Proceedings. She as a Professor engaged herself in grooming her students in field of Computer Science. This dynamic lady is a Life Member of many professional bodies, is a wife and a mother, a social activist associated with social organisations as Om Sai Blood Bank and GE Foundation.
Dr Jyothi Pillai dedicated her success to her father Late KKR Pillai (Ravi Sir) and her mother Leela Ravindran, her husband K Gopakumar, son Abhishek G, family and friends.
