Juvenile murdered during immersion procession

Bhilai, Sep 12: A juvenile was murdered following a petty dispute during the immersion procession at Durg on the intervening night of Monday. Police have arrested the accused within a few hours of the crime. The sharp weapon used in the crime was also recovered.

SP Dr Abhishek Pallava informed that Durg City Kotwali received information regarding the death of a juvenile after a violent clash at Naka Chowk of Ganjpara. One Rakesh Dhimar was dancing to the tunes of a DJ during the immersion procession. He entered into an argument and fight with one Yash Mehra. In the meanwhile, Rakesh’s nephew Gopi Dhimar reached the spot and intervened. Suddenly, Yash Mehra took out a sharp weapon and inflicted a fatal injury on the neck of Gopi Dhimar and escaped from the spot. Locals rushed Gopi Dhimar to the district hospital where he was declared dead.

Police lodged an FIR under section 32 of IPC. Considering the seriousness of the matter, senior police officers inspected the crime scene and collected information about the accused. Police teams were deployed to search for the absconding accused. Within a few hours, Police managed to trace and arrest the accused identified as Yash Mehra alias Yashu (21) son of Late Vinder Singh a resident of Purai (Utai PS). He was presently residing at Utkal Colony in Ganjpara.

Inspector SN Singh (SHO, Durg), Inspector Santosh Mishra (I/c ACCU), Head Constable Narendra Singh, Yogesh Chandrakar, Chetan Sahu, Constable Shaukat Hayat Khan, Utkarsh Singh, Lav Pandey, Suresh and Cyber Cell staff Mohammad Javed Khan, Dhirendra Yadav, Tileshwar Rathore, Pradeep Thakur, Shobhit Sinha, Khurram Baksh, Jagjeet Singh and Farukh Khan played a vital role in arresting the accused.
