IPL cricket satta bookie arrested in Purani Basti

Purani Basti police on Thursday night arrested a cricket satta bookie from Mahamaipara locality after nabbing him red-handed accepting cash bet over couple of mobile phones. Apart from seizing cash, police also seized from the accused betting records worth over Rs 2 lakh.
According to police, capital police have been undertaking a massive drive against IPL cricket satta operators and bookies ever since the beginning of ILP’s season-13. In the first five days itself, police had busted four major betting rackets and on Thursday night, in-charge Cyber Crime Inspector Ramakant Sahu and his team got technical input about operation of another betting racket from Mahamaipara locality in Purani Basti during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab.
Following the input, a police team rushed to the spot and zeroed in upon the exact house from where the racket was being operated. Even at the time police entered into the house, accused Sagar Sharma was busy receiving bet over two mobile phones. Police immediately took him into custody and seized from him both the mobile phones, a LED TV, cash Rs 15000 and betting records worth over Rs 2 lakh.
Sagar was immediately taken to police station where it was revealed that he had been arrested for similar offence in 2018 as well.
Police later booked Sagar under Section 4A of Gambling Act.
