Interstate smugglers held with huge cache of liquor

Bhilai, Aug 06: Durg Police arrested two interstate smugglers and recovered huge cache of illicit liquor from their possession. They had concealed the illicit liquor in a farm house as well as the premises of a shutdown factory in Kumhari.
CSP (Chhawani) Vishwas Chandrakar informed that on the instructions of SP Prashant Agrawal and ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruw, the teams of various police stations are making efforts to put a check on the illegal activities of smuggling, bootlegging and trade of illicit liquor.
In this sequel, Kumhari Police acted on a tip off and two suspects were taken in custody. During interrogation, they confessed involvement in smuggling and illegal trade of liquor. On the basis of information provided by the suspects, police searched the premises of DMC Factory in Kumhari as well as a farm house in Murmunda and recovered 150 crates (7200 quarters) of English Liquor worth Rs 14.40 lakhs. The liquor was packed in bags and concealed in these two places. The accused Karan Kumar (27) son of Veer Bahadur and K Shiv Rao (24) son of K Gopal Rao, both residents of near DMC Factory, Kumhari have been booked under the provisions mentioned in section 34 (2) of Excise Act.
Inspector SN Singh, SI Yashwant Baghel, SI Sudhanshu Baghel, ASI Ganesh Ram Sahu, Head Constable Prem Chand Yadav, Constables Rajkumar Singh, Lav Pandey, Bunty Singh, Rakesh Yadav of Kumhari Police Station and Inspector Laxman Kumeti, ASI Beni Singh Rajput, ASI DR Deshlehre, Constable Dinesh Mandavi, Jagjeet Singh and Rishi Banchhor played vital role in arresting the accused recovery of illicit liquor.
