Interstate gang of child-lifters busted; five held

Bhilai, Sep 28: With the arrest of five persons including four women, police claimed to have busted an interstate gang of child-lifters. The accused hail from Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. They had abducted two kids from Zone 2 Khursipar. Police acted swiftly and rescued both the children. SP Dr Abhishek Pallava informed that around 04:40 hrs on September 27, an unknown person lifted two children from Zone 2 Khursipar and escaped from the spot. Mother of the children Krishna Soni, witnessed the incident and started screaming. Soon locals gathered at the spot and rounded up some women, who appeared to be outsiders. When the locals questioned the suspected women, they expressed ignorance and innocence.

On information, a police team reached the spot and the suspected women were taken into custody. Initially they asserted that they were innocent and even started crying in the police station. Later, the interrogators enticed them with a promise that they will be released if they tell the truth. Soon the women confessed involvement in child-lifting and disclosed the name of the man who had abducted the children. Police gained the confidence of the women and made them contact the abductor on mobile phone. The women asked their accomplice to reach near Baba Balaknath Mandir in Khursipar. Till then, police had laid a trap near the temple. After some time, the abductor reached the spot and was immediately arrested. Police safely rescued the abducted kids from him.

The accused are identified as Sunita (35) wife of Basant Singh; Kalavati Gond (58) wife of Gajadhar Gond; Dhara Bai (28) wife of Ajay Gond; Rupa Bai (26) wife of Kaushal; and Basant Gond (43) son of Babli Singh, all residents of village Dhanpuri, Ward 22, Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.

SI Satish Sahu, Head Constable Elizabeth, Constable Deepak Singh, Harsh Dewangan, Aman Sharma, Subhash Yadav, Pankaj Singh and Hemant Sahu played a vital role in arresting the accused.
