Incumbent CM usually party’s face in next assembly election: Singh Deo

Bhilai, Sep 25: “I am waiting for justice”, commented Health Minister TS Singh Deo in reply to a question regarding the purported power-sharing agreement under which he was to serve as Chief Minister in the latter half of the five-year-tenure. In reply to another question, he said that generally the incumbent Chief Minister becomes the face of the party in the next assembly election. Speaking about the 33% reservation for women in ticket distribution, he said that Sonia Gandhi has always supported this issue and the party also tries its best to give more and more tickets. But due to certain circumstances, the implementation part becomes difficult. Maharaja Saheb of Surguja Princely State and Congress heavyweight, TS Singh Deo was addressing media persons here at Supela on Sunday. He spoke about the objectives of Bharat Jodo Yatra and other related details. He informed that as the Yatra is not passing through Chhattisgarh, a team of 100 Congmen is going to participate in the Yatra in the days to come.

When questioned about the unfulfilled promises of Congress’s Jan Ghoshna Patra (VS poll manifesto), Singh Deo said that they had come into power with a pledge to fulfil all the 36 promises made in the manifesto. Immediately after forming the government, work was initiated as per the vision of poll manifesto and some of the significant promises including agriculture loan waiver, relief in power bills, increasing the MSP of paddy and other crops, etc were fulfilled very soon. Till now, more than 18 promises have been fulfilled and working is underway on remaining issues. Due to some technical complications, the government is facing difficulties in executing other promises. He assured that the problems would be resolved soon.

Sharing his view on the upcoming election of All India Congress Committee President, the Cabinet Minister said that till now the situations are indicating that any member of Gandhi family will not contest the election. Rahul Gandhi has also given a statement that he will not contest the election. Expressing complete support and faith in Rahul Gandhi, Singh Deo said that Rahul Gandhi is the most appropriate person for this chair. He added that Rahul Gandhi has been on the target of everyone including the opponents as well as some leaders of Congress itself. He appreciated Rahul Gandhi for maintaining silence and not reacting on such issues. Singh Deo further said that Rahul Gandhi has always worked for strengthening the party and keeping it united. Singh Deo spoke about the Congress leaders who resigned from the party.

Speaking about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Health Minister said that it is an effort to connect directly with the citizens. Till now lakhs of people have been connected with this yatra. No one can justify the uncontrolled inflation when the LPG cylinder costs more than Rs 1100 and the price of vehicle fuels have crossed Rs 1000. The increasing support to Bharat Jodo Yatra indicates that the citizens are fed up with the working of BJP.

District Congress Committee President Mukesh Chandrakar delivered the welcome address while PCC Representative Arun Sisodia proposed the vote of thanks. Congress leaders Badruddin Qureshi, Tulsi Sahu, Neelu Thakur and others were present.
