Idol-makers of Lord Ganesha get permission for 8 feet idols

Central Chronicle News
Raipur, Sep 06: Seeing the problems to idol makers about the small size of Lord Ganesha’s idols, the District administration has now issued fresh guidelines, allowing idols upto 8 feet for installation in the ‘pandal’ by the Ganeshotsav organizers for the ten-day long Lord Ganesha festival in coming days.
As per the amendments made, the idol-makers can now increase the height of idols from 4 feet permitted earlier to 8 feet, provided it is not made out of Plaster-of-Paris. The idols made out of ‘Plaster-of-Paris’ are still prohibited.
Apart from this the organizers have got the permission to play ‘Ghumal’, but only at the venue and fixed place where idol has been installed. The persons installing idols cannot play ‘Ghumal’ at the time of installation of Ganesha’s idol or taking it to venue and at the time of immersion of idols.
In rest of the points issued earlier by the district administration, no changes have been made.
