ICAR-NIBSM Raipur dedicated to nation

Prime Minster Narendra Modi inaugurated the complex of new building and infrastructure facility of ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, on virtual mode. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other Ministers of state also witnessed the function. It was established in 2012 to take up the basic and strategic research in biotic stresses, develop human resources and provide policy support for the national network of research and development organizations in health management and agriculture. As a centre of education, training and research in contemporary innovative areas of biotic stresses, NIBSM shall have four schools viz. (i) Crop Health Management Research (ii) Crop Health Biology Research (iii) Crop Resistance System Research and (iv) Crop Health Policy Support Research to address contextual issues. The institute is equipped with necessary infrastructural facilities for research on biotic stress management and has started PG courses in the academic session 2020-21 in affiliation with ICAR-IARI. The Administration complex, two School buildings and a Student Hostel (G+2) has been constructed by CPWD, Raipur with a budget outlay of Rs.58.00 crores (Fifty-Eight crores Rupees only) plus about Rs 20 crores for supporting infrastructure.
Apart from virtual mode the institute also arranged inauguration programme at the institute gathered around 300 farmers and witnessed by MP of Raipur constituency Sunil Soni, Ex MLA Chandrasekhar Sahu. Institute Founder Director Dr P.K.Ghosh briefed about the genesis of this institute and future projection for the development and upliftment of farming community with quality education to the PG programme. Dr Anil Dixit, Joint Director of ICAR-NIBSM welcomed the guest and conducted the proceeding of whole event on the occasion.
A farmer-scientists interface was also convened on the occasion for benefit of climate resilient practices in agriculture to the gathered farmers.
