I am proud to have been a NSS volunteer: Uikey

Raipur, Sep 26: Governor Ms. Anusuiya Uikey rewarded the best institutions, best program officers and volunteers at the state level award ceremony organised on the occasion of National Service Scheme (NSS) foundation day at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Auditorium. On this occasion she said that I am proud that I have been a volunteer of NSS. Working in this organization instilled in me the passion to work for the society. NSS inculcates a sense of nationalism, social service and sensitivity among the youth, she added. By sending them to the rural environment, it is told what kind of conditions are in the village, what are the problems. This instills in them a sense of service. The Governor said that while pursuing education, it is not enough just to get a degree. There should be a culture of conduct. It is needed the most in life, the one who accepts it and works, surely gets success.
He said that always work with dedication in life with a goal. Working in institutions like NSS develops self-confidence and a sense of leadership in the students. This feeling gives them success in achieving their goals. Recalling her old days, the Governor said that when she was associated with NSS. Started work as a lecturer in the college. Most of my students there were from tribal society. I used to go to the villages with him to do tree plantation and other service work. I used to tell them to go to the village and inform the villagers about the schemes of the government and see whether the schemes of the government are reaching there or not. She said that by working in NSS, one learns that no work is small or big and every person irrespective of the class is equal. After working in this institution, a spirit of belligerence develops, this spirit helps the youth to move forward. This feeling in me also came from the NSS and which continued to inspire me to move forward, due to which I have been able to reach the post of MLA, Minister, Member of National Commission for Women, Vice-Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and Governor. The Governor said that during the Corona period, NSS volunteers have played an important role in distribution of medicines, food, masks and are motivating people for vaccination, for this I congratulate them. The Governor said that we are celebrating 75th anniversary of independence. Many people contributed in the freedom struggle.. We should inform the NSS volunteers so that they can take inspiration from their lives. Along with this, work should also be done to save the contributions and aspects of such great people. Appreciating the Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Vikas Upadhyay, the Governor said that at present there is a need for such young leadership, who can serve the public with dedication. She said that through the National Service Scheme, youth contribute in education, health, environment, social service work, agricultural work, economic development related work, blood donation, campaigns and camps against leprosy and AIDS and many more. Such camps are good medium for holistic development of personality. Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Vikas Upadhyay said that NSS was established in the year 1969 with the objective that the army of such youth is always ready in the country who are posted to serve in times of crisis or natural calamity. He said that today more than 01 lakh youth are associated with NSS, who come forward and work in the time of any crisis or need. He said that at the time of Covid-19, when a large number of migrant workers came to our state, NSS volunteers played an important role in sending them to their homes and helping them in every way, even arranging oxygen, medicines, hospitals. In every situation, I went ahead and worked. The Vice Chancellor of Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Keshri Lal Verma said that NSS is being added as an optional subject in the university curriculum. Students will be able to study it as an optional subject. On this occasion, Special Secretary, Higher Education Department, Mr. Bhuvnesh Yadav and Commissioner of Higher Education, Mrs. Sharda Verma also gave their address.
Government Post Graduate College Mahasamund at college level, Government Higher Secondary School Tarapur, District Raigarh and 04 program officers and 24 volunteers were awarded as the best institution in the programme. Volunteers of National Service Scheme and their families, teachers were present in the program.
