House burgled in Gudhiyari; cash, ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh stolen

Raipur: Unidentified burglars broke into a locked house in Gudhiyari’s Murrbhatti area sometime between July 13 and 21 and decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh by further breaking open the almirahs.

The burglary was detected on Sunday when house owner returned back to the city along with his family after which a complaint was lodged in Gudhiyari police station. According to police, complainant Santosh Agrawal had been out of the city along with his family since July 13 with regards to a family function at a relative’s place.

Returning from there on Sunday evening, they found that the main door’s lock was broken and missing. Further entering into the house, they found everything inside was ransacked completely and the almirahs too were broken open from where the burglars had taken away cash Rs 40000 and all the gold and silver ornaments left in them, all totaling to about Rs 2 lakh.

Gudhiyari police, in the meantime, have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and is now investigating the matter further. In another burglary reported in Kabir Nagar police station, unidentified burglar entered into complainant Surjeet Singh’s house in Veer Sawarkar Nagar by scaling over the boundary wall and entering through the open door after which he decamped with cash 5440 and two mobile phones, all totaling to Rs 16440. Kabir Nagar police, in the meantime, have registered an offence under Section 457, 380 IPC against unidentified burglar and is now investigati.
