Hookah bar found at Gaming Zone in Cafe; sealed

Bhilai, Oct 24: Acting on the instructions of Chief Minister, Durg Police conducted surprise checks at hotels, restaurants, cafes, etc of the city to check illegal activities including operation of hookah bars. CM had clearly instructed the cops to ensure that not a single hookah bar is operated in the state.
In this sequel, SSP Badri Narayan Meena constituted special teams led by Station House Officers of nine Police Stations. These teams conducted the special checking drive at the hotels and restaurants. Durg Police had conducted such checking drive earlier also. On Saturday, the police team found that hookah bar was being operated at a cafe in Mohan Nagar area. Legal action was taken against the owner and the shop was sealed.
On the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg)Badri Narayan Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sanjay Kumar Dhruv led this special drive. The teams of police station in-charges including 50 cops checked 20 cafes, restaurants and hotels.
In Durg-Bhilai city, the checking drive targeted the Hookah Bars, Cafe, restaurant which serve hookah to minors in violation to the rules. More than 20 hookah bar centers operating in Smriti Nagar, Supela, Mohan Nagar, Durg, Pulgaon areas of the city were raided.
Action was taken under COTPA Act against Yard Cafe for serving hookah to youths under the guise of gaming zone in Mohan Nagar area. 10 nos hookahs and 17 pipe, 09 box flavor were seized from this centre. The said shop was sealed and action was taken against the owner.
