GPM district to get new identity thru ‘Arpa Mahotsav’: CM

Raipur, Feb 10: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that ‘Arpa Mahotav’ will give new identity to Gourela- Pendra- Marwahi (GPM) district. He said that the beauty with this the foundation of this Mahotsav has been laid would make it even more massive and it will be expanded in all forms.
Baghel was speaking on the occasion of first anniversary of formation of new GPM district being observed as ‘Aarpa Mahotsav’. On this occasion he made declaration to install statue of Dr Bhanwarsingh Porte in the College and School in the district. CM on this occasion laid stone for development works worth Rs 20 crore and above for people of the district.
Addressing at the conclusion of two-day ‘Arpa Mahotsav’ in Pendra here on Wednesday Baghel said that GPM should have been formed as district immediately after formation of new state of Chhattisgarh. But this got considerably delayed. It was on formation of new government in the state, this long-cherished dream of people of GPM was realised and fulfilled. He said that with formation of district the development works will gain momentum. This district will be developed with full force and efforts will be made to develop it was tourism district. On this occasion Speaker of State Assembly Dr Charandas Mahant, Revenue Minister and GPM district in-Charge Jaisingh Agrawal, Parliamentary Secretary Rashmi Ashish Singh, MLA Dr KK Dhruv, Shailesh Pandey, Mohit Keketta, Advisor to CM Pradeep Sharma and othe reps from Panchayat and other institutions were present.
CM Baghel extended greetings to people of GPM on occasion of ‘Arpa Mahotsav’ and said that in this Mahotsav there is lot of novelty to be seen. Apart from rich cultural touch of Chhattisgarh in this Mahotsav, there is presentation of district’s culture as well. The ancient form of state’s culture is being presented in new form and the people are feeling elated with it. He said that GPM is a sacred place and in this place there is water from Ganges, Narmada, Son and Mahanadi. The first word of state’s song begins with ‘Arpa’ and in it lie the importance of entire region.
CM said that it was here that Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore stayed for treatment of his wife in GPendra for one & half years. No doubt the natural atmosphere of the region left lasting impression in his writings and poems. He might have created write-up, poems based upon the lifestyle of the region and it is by searching for these writings that it should be read-out in this Mahotsav.
CM further said that in order to make the memories of well-known journalist of the region Pt. Madhav Rao Sapre more lasting that a new Press Club building has been dedicated at the cost of Rs 50 lakh here. Declaration to start a Horticulture College in the memory of Late Bisahudas Mahant has already being made earlier. In order to speed-up development work in the district, CM said taht many works were started during his last visit.
CM further said that this year there is record in paddy purchase on MSP in the state and total 93 lakh MT of paddy has been purchased in the state. The amount of money credited into farmers’ account is the one which has never done as on date. Purchase of paddy from 20.58 lakh farmers has been completed and in turn farmers have been paid a total amount of Rs 17322 crore. With farmers getting due rate for their farming, there is inclination of farmers to take up agriculture work. CM Baghel said that in order to pass on relief to farmers during corona pandemic, they were paid total of Rs 5750 cr of amount in four installments under Rajiv Gandhi Kissan Nyay Yojana. So far three installments under this scheme has been paid and last installment will be credited by end of this FY. On this occasion CM released a book based upon writings of last 100 years and felicitated those who won in different competition organised on occasion of foundation day of district.
